Shake Rattle and Sing – The Beehive

This is a lovely song to play with a baby or toddler on your knee, or in a baby bouncing chair too. Works well carrying a child around the room too.

Here is the beehive, where are the bees?    Wrap around the baby on you knee or creep around the room. Alternatively use your hands to create the hive, one wrapped around the other.
Hidden away where nobody sees….   Whisper the words softly in their ear.
Soon they come creeping out of the hive   If using your hands, creep your fingers out and then tickle your baby any way you like, under their chin arms etc. If walking, creep and use one hand to tickle the baby.
1 2 3 4 5 zzzzzzzzzz!   Stamp your feet if walking about, in time to the counting 1-5, or bounce baby on your knee in time, and tickle them as you say ‘zzzzzzz’ in their ears.

Hip Hop Happy – Whose Pigs are these?

This song is a round which older children and adults might enjoy in the car! The second group of singers start singing when the first group begin the second line of ‘Whose pigs are these?’ – marked with a * below.

For younger children and babies, have them sat opposite you, and try the following actions:

Whose pigs are these?*Whose pigs are these?   Raise hands upwards as if questionning, and make a pig’s snout action, by rotation of your clenched fist in front of your nose, back and forth.
They are John Pott’s, you can tell’em by the spots   Make spotty actions all over your child,
And I found them in the vicarage garden.   Make a steeple shape with forearms to indicate the church and then motion a square garden in front of you.
Verse 2:They are John Pipe’s you can tell’em by the stripes….etc   Make stripey actions, drawing your forefingers down the child’s body
Verse 3:They are John Potter’s you can tell’em by the trotters….etc   Pat the child’s feet, tickle them or tap them together.

You could always sing this while making pig shaped biscuits with appropriate decorations or cardboard pigs, or simple piggy drawings, with suitable markings! Peppa Pig fans will appreciate your efforts!
