The Scout Hut
The Scout Hut is at the Old Quarry next to Marden Wildlife Park,
just off the Broadway at the Whitley Bay end. The Park is great
for picnics, feeding ducks, enjoying daffodils when the weather
is good!
Directions from Newcastle: Take the A1058 out to the coast
and head for Tynemouth along Beach Road. Turn left at the roundabout
by the New Broadway pub, continue along the Broadway for about half
a mile, and you will find the Scout Hut on the left opposite the
Quarry pub. There is a large free car park.
By Metro: It is a ten minute walk from Whitley Bay Metro
Station. Get off and leave the station on the opposite side to the
town, and walk up Chollerford Avenue until you reach the main road,
the Broadway. You need to turn left and then cross this busy road
in front of the Quarry pub and walk a few metres over the grass,
up a small slip road and the Scout hut is on your right, with green
railings all around the outside of the buliding. Buggies are easiest
brought into the rear of the building, via the carpark on the edge
of Marden Wildlife Park. Just keep walking around the Scout hut
and you'll find the gate at the back.
